a little of this & that

you know the part of packing your house where you just don't want to 'live' in your house anymore?

nothing on the walls,

no order to anything,

boxes everywhere,

nothing really has a place...it's all closing in you feeling?

that's where i am.

if you know me...you know i like order.

i like clean.

i like normal.

i like things to have a 'place'.

so, you can imagine how i'm feeling right about now...

we are under 3 weeks til the move.

and i can't stand to be in this house.

ugh!!

believe me i love the AC b/c it's been in the upper 90s around here...

but, the kids 'playroom' has been taken over with boxes.

so...they are going nuts =)

but, it must be done.

so..not complaining.

i'm just sayin'

i'm also trying to use up baking items in our house.

flour, brown sugar, you know stuff you just don't want to pack.

yesterday i made some yummy muffins that i will put on here on monday for

BON APPETITE!

so, get your muffin recipes ready and link up!!

today i was looking on allrecipes.com (love that site)

and found a recipe for

homemade waffles:

2 eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat)

1 3/4 c milk

1/2 c veg oil

1 T white sugar

4 t baking pwd

1/4 t salt

1/2 t vanilla extract

1. pre-heat waffle iron.

beat eggs in large bowl with hand mixer until fluffy.

beat in flour, milk, veg oil, sugar, bkg pwd, salt & vanilla, just until smooth.

2. spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray.

pour mix onto hot waffle iron.

cook until golden brown. SERVE HOT!!!!

don't these sound yummy!!!???

stuff

i wanted to write a quick blog because i don't know when exactly i'll be around a computer again. we are moving in the morning and driving a LONG way!!!!

i also don't know when i will get another computer since mine is shot!! ugh!!

what is a girl to do without a computer and internet?!?

i'm gonna miss my bloggy friends and all my facebooking friends :o)

but, what i do know is that i WILL BE BACK!!!

i will miss reading my daily blog reads -- i'm gonna be so behind!! ugh!!

this is what i have been thinking about the last few days - to be honest, i have been trying to avoid thinking about saying goodbye.

really....how do you say goodbye?

i'm so ready for this 'season' in my life to be over and by this 'season' i mean being without my husband, the love of my life. this has been the hardest season to date. i never knew how i would get through this but my family and friends have been unbelievable!!

seriously -- i have the best family & friends!!!

this next season of our life has been a long time coming and i am so excited.

but, it is also bittersweet.

there is so much more i want to say but i don't know exactly how to put it into words...

PACKING

two weeks ago yesterday i found out we weren't moving to VA just yet, but moving back to KS.

no big deal, right? wrong!

the move to VA was going to be and still is a PCS move...however, getting me and the boys back to KS is not. do you see where i'm going with this?

FACT: we are paying for this move & packing up the house! {boo!}

so....for the last 2 weeks my mind has been in overdrive!

i want to be super organized for this move and not be stressed out.

as i began to research how expensive moving boxes were -- i decided to stake out the local liquor stores...i even, ahem, looked through dumpsters!! {i'm desperate here}

after hitting up several liquor stores and rummaging through some of our areas finest dumpsters....i'm sad to say i have ZERO boxes to show for it!! sad :(

enter: my dear friend

i got a phone call from a dear friend of mine telling me he had about 300 boxes at work that i could have. woo hoo!! yipee! :)

a couple of days later i loaded the boys in the van & headed downtown to pick up the boxes.

just about the time 'my dear friend' was bringing the boxes down it started to rain and when i say rain...i mean SHEETS OF RAIN!! we managed to get the boxes in the back of my van -- what we didn't manage to avoid was getting soaked. BUT, i got some boxes :)

i get back in the van and head towards home and the sun starts shining {sort of mocking me in a way}. i mean, literally, the minute i pull out of the parking lot is stops raining and the sun is beating down!! i just had to laugh at my luck or lack there of.

FAST FORWARD to the next day.

me and the boys are heading out the door & when i open the van door there is this funky smell.

{note to self}

wet cardboard that has then dried and stored in a van overnight does not leave a pleasant smell.

however, after spraying the van down with some FEBREZE -- we are back to normal!!

i have posted some pics to show you all that i have accomplished in a short time.

save the accolades for later.
